The Pool at Cedar Lodge

Cedar Lodge has a private heated outdoor pool that is a combination swimming pool and spa pool. The pool is located next to the house, has fabulous views, and is not overlooked by any neighbouring properties. There is plenty of space to sit and sunbathe, and in addition there is a Tiki bar where you can mix your poolside cocktails.

Please note that the pool is only heated between May and the end of September. On request we can heat the pool during April or October, but this will involve an additional charge. We are sorry, but it is not possible to heat our outdoor pool between November and the end of March.

The Swimming Pool and Spa Pool

The Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is heated from the beginning of May until the end of September. In the Winter months it is unheated, and we therefore do not recommend that you use it at this time. Heating is controlled automatically, and when heating is on you can expect the water to be about 28-29°C, which is a comfortable bathing temperature.

The swimming pool, which is gated for safety, is great for relaxation, and is a particular favourite for children of all ages. It also has two powerful swim jets, which when switched on allow you to "swim against the current".

Please ensure that you follow the swimming pool rules at all times when using the pool.

Poolside Controls

There are push-button foot-operated switches on the side of both the main pool and spa pool.

Main pool switches

Two switches near the thermal cover roller control the operation of the two swim jets. Swim jets push water out into the pool to provide a current against which it is possible to swim continuously. When switched on, the power of each jet can be adjusted via the dial at the side of the switch.

Spa pool switches

There are two switches on the spa pool. One of the switches is currently not in use, the other (on the right) turns on the bubbles in the spa.

Thermal Covers

The main pool has a large thermal cover that should be replaced after you finish swimming to help maintain the temperature. In winter, when the main pool is unheated, the main pool is uncovered. The spa pool has a separate cover that should be used all year round when the spa is not in use.

Please note: the spa pool cover can sometimes be blown off by the wind; if this happens, please replace it to ensure that the temperature is maintained.

FAQs

Can we have the pool heated in the winter months?

  • We are sorry, but it is not possible (nor really desirable) to heat a large outside pool when the weather is cold

How warm is the pool?

  • When heated, the pool is set to maintain temperatures of 28-29°C, which is warmer than a typical public indoor swimming pool (usually around 27°C). This temperature feels warm to the touch, but is a swimming temperature, not a hot tub.
