Cedar Lodge, Colwyn Bay

Luxury large holiday home in North Wales

The Pool at Cedar Lodge

Cedar Lodge features a private heated outdoor pool situated next to the house, offering fabulous views and complete privacy from neighboring properties. There is ample space for lounging and sunbathing, and in addition, a Tiki bar is available for mixing your poolside cocktails.

Please note that the pool is heated only from May until the end of September. Upon request, we can heat the pool during April or October; however, this will incur an additional charge. Unfortunately, it is not possible to heat the outdoor pool from November to the end of March.

The Swimming Pool and Spa Pool

About the Pool

The swimming pool is heated from the beginning of May until the end of September. During the winter months, it remains unheated, and we do not recommend using it at that time. Heating is controlled automatically, and when the system is on, you can expect the water temperature in the main pool to be around 28-29°C, which is a comfortable bathing temperature.

When the pool is heated, in the afternoons only, the spa pool is heated separately to an invigorating 37-38°C.

The swimming pool is gated for safety and provides an excellent space for relaxation, making it a favourite for children of all ages. It also features two powerful swim jets that, when activated, allow you to "swim against the current."

Please ensure that you follow the swimming pool rules at all times when using the pool.

Poolside Controls

There are push-button, foot-operated switches located on the side of both the main pool and spa area.

Main pool switches

Two switches near the thermal cover roller control the operation of the two swim jets. The swim jets push water into the pool, creating a current that allows for continuous swimming. When activated, the power of each jet can be adjusted using the dial next to the switch.

Spa pool switches

There are two switches in the spa area. One of the switches is currently not in use; the other (on the right) activates the bubbles in the spa.

Thermal Covers

The main pool is equipped with a large thermal cover that should be replaced after you finish swimming to help maintain the water temperature. In winter, when the main pool is unheated, the main pool is uncovered. The spa pool has a separate cover that should be used year-round when the spa is not in use.

Please note: the spa pool cover can sometimes be blown off by the wind; if this occurs, please replace it to ensure that the temperature is maintained.

FAQs

Can we have the pool heated in the winter months?

  • We are sorry, but it is not possible (nor really desirable) to heat a large outside pool when the weather is cold.

How warm is the pool?

  • When heated, the main pool is set to maintain temperatures of 28-29°C, which is warmer than a typical public indoor swimming pool (usually around 27°C), and during the afternoon the spa pool is heated to 37-38°C.

Does it have a hot tub?

  • The spa area features seating and bubbles, and when pool heating is active, during the afternoon it is heated to hot tub temperatures. However, in the mornings and evenings it is connected to the main pool and maintains swimming pool temperatures. We are sorry, but it is not possible to change the timing of this, or to heat the spa pool in winter.
